Why Logger::create_child made no child — RFC-0102 D1.

rclrs’s create_child is fallible too (Result<Logger, RclrsError>), so a Rust caller chooses its own fallback (parent.create_child("x").unwrap_or(parent)). The C and C++ surfaces, whose upstream shapes cannot report failure, fall back to the parent automatically (RFC-0102 D3).

The child’s full name is longer than MAX_LOGGER_NAME_LEN bytes.

Bytes the full name would have.

max: usize

MAX_LOGGER_NAME_LEN.

EmptyName

The full name would be empty: an empty child_name under the catch-all, whose children are top-level names.

ArenaFull

The runtime-logger arena, its name bytes, or the intern table is full.
