Autonomous bus project at TaiChung City, Taiwan
Since Sept. 2018, I have participated the autonomous bus, G-Bus, project with Green Transit Bus at TaiChung city, Taiwan. The G-Bus team consists of Green Transit Bus, Wistron, LiLee Systems, StarLii, Thi Consultant, and Taiwan Optical Platform.
The bus route has 2.9KM in length and consists of three bus stops, two open intersections, and two U-Turns. We retrofitted a diesel 9 meter bus to provide the services. The bus cruises at 30 KM per hour, which counts more than 90% of the bus cruising speed in the city.
From Dec. 21, 2018 to Jan. 21, 2019, the bus serves on every dot on the clock from 9AM to 4PM. Due to popular requests, the bus served more than 400 sortie in 31 days, and carried more than 7,000 passengers. Only one sortie was delayed due to power issue among scheduled sortie and, hence, the delay rate is less than 0.5%.
On Feb. 25, 2019, G-Bus was also invited to provide shuttle service for the Grand Opening of Taiwan CARLab in Tainan, Taiwan.
